M@B Scripts My Day

My whole day so far feels like it’s been scripted by Matthew Blackett.

Some examples:

I was in the kitchen with the window open. Below, a red convertible was playing classical music really loud. I yelled down, “Ralph Vaughan-Williams! Nice!” The driver gave me a thumbs-up.

My roommate left to go to the gym. One minute later, she ran back upstairs, screaming. “There’s an alien corpse on our doorstep!” It was a squirrel fetus.

I wore a pink shirt today. A rollerblader passing me said, “Hey! Molly Ringwald!” When he failed to get my attention, he tried again. “Hot, punk styling Molly Ringwald?”

I went to buy red lace to sew onto my Evil Dead t-shirt. The salesgirl came over to offer her opinion. “This one looks more ‘blood and bordellos’.” Has she even seen the movie?

Take two of the comicon today, with my friend Jamie if he calls me back. Then a birthday party tonight, if my friends call me back. Maybe my phone is broken.

Sailors Delight

I’ll write more about this in the morning, ’cause I really need to sleep now, but I had two excellent experiences today. One of them resulted in my head being a completely different colour now than it was this morning, and the other meant that less than two hours ago I was sitting at the helm of a Canadian Naval warship; HMS Kingston.

Both of these things are extremely awesome. I also got to touch the instrument panel in the warhead room, and play with the red Presidential Phone because the Commanding Officer on watch said it was okay to do so. I love hanging out with sailors. Especially when they are in their dress whites. And saluting me. And giving me free rum. Mmm. Yummy.

And, HURRAH! It’s my best friend’s birthday today. Rock on, sistah! This Saturday night we will party apocalyptically. There will be fire, brimstone, locusts, rains of toads, and probably a large quantity of Sour Apple martinis. I will celebrate the birth of my most excellent acquaintance in style. May she have many happy returns of the day, I love her dearly. 2003-08-21 – 11:54 p.m.
