{"id":1219,"date":"2006-03-08T13:04:00","date_gmt":"2006-03-08T17:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pipesdreams.org\/blog\/archives\/1219"},"modified":"2011-09-26T23:51:38","modified_gmt":"2011-09-27T03:51:38","slug":"and-also-my-quilt-for-the-cure-entry-double-dutch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pipesdreams.org\/blog\/archives\/1219","title":{"rendered":"And also my &#8220;Quilt for the Cure&#8221; entry &#8211; Double Dutch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While I was working on the Nintendo Super Mario Bros. quilt, I was also under deadline for my submission to Quilt for the Cure aka <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thequilt.com\/2004\/2005CallforEntry.htm\">TheQuilt.com &#8211; a breast cancer support project<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>My first idea was to do a black and white log cabin piece, but alas, we babysat a rather large and drooling bull mastiff, who took a liking to my cotton collection, all laid out temptingly on the floor, and chewed it to bits. <\/p>\n<p>So, I started again from scratch right around Christmas time, and in just over two months managed to piece and hand-quilt a Dutch-themed windmills and tulips crib-sized quilt (I think it was around 46&#215;58&#8243; or so). <\/p>\n<p>It will be featured in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thequilt.com\/2004\/ViewQuiltsandBidOn-line.htm\">online Quilt for the Cure auction<\/a> later this year, and I can&#8217;t wait to see how much money it will raise for charity! The colours and design are my own original creation, all hand-cut with no templates, although I was inspired by an Amish quilt I saw in a 1970s quilt book by Rachel Pellham. <\/p>\n<p>The photos are a little dark, but you still get the idea.
