In which I make out like Starfishchick with the numbered lists

1. Am once again testing the ability of passers-by to not retch when they see my hideous, swollen visage. Yes, I have a cold sore. It’s just me and the Elephant Man, alone on the brink of humanity. Fuck you, herpes simplex.

2. Last night, despite my horrendous unattractiveness, lovely was thoughtful enough to make me delicious, mouthwatering butter chicken with fresh sliced bread and green tea. Mmmm. We watched ‘The Mummy’ – man, , I can totally see how you’re into that action – and vegged out extremely. Later there was a very pleasant concurrent needlework and Katamari session. There may have been some foot rubbing, also. Dreamy.

3. Thanks to Uli, I have sooooo many quilt books and an assortment of groovy fabrics, and my brain is going nuts thinking up new ideas for quilts. I am going to go broke from this new hobby. How did pioneering frontierswomen afford quality printed cotton, again? Oh wait, they didn’t. They used old clothes. Probably a lesson to be learned there. A lesson I will blatantly ignore by attending the Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival at Exhibition Place this weekend and skulking around the Len’s Mill booth.

4. Still waiting for Neil Gaiman to blog about his Toronto signing, hoping vainly for a mention of the pet squirrel with makeup question. Am debating scanning and posting to journal page 515 of my signed- and illustrated-by-him copy of ‘The Joy of Cooking’ (the squirrel, opossum and porcupine preparation page).

Note to self: please appease Chrissy’s wrath by writing TMB.net article as promised on either quilting, Joy of Cooking, or both. Do so before NaNoWriMo hits in November, or suffer.

  1. That question was you?

Also, when are you planning to hit CSNF? I want to go, but a) have no money, and b) have no money…

  2. 1. No, that question wasn’t me, but I did follow the lead by having Neil sign my ‘Joy of Cooking’ on the “how to cook squirrel” page.

    2. Not sure when going to the fair, but likely Saturday morning and/or late afternoon. I’m going home to the Oak to see my Dad on Saturday at lunch, so I’ll see whether it’s more of a “sleep in with Justin” day or a “get home early, spend the afternoon with Justin” day. I’ll check his work schedule tonight.

    3. Money is so irrelevant to staring longingly at expensive things. Plus, they have door prizes!
