Update on the inukshuk front: I have my book! AND an extra book, by the same author, helpfully called “Make your Own Inukshuk”.
And, well, also a book called “Timepieces”, on clockwork and the history of cog and gear motion improvement. But that’s another story.
Anyhow, Science City is awesome and I could seriously spend my whole paycheque there. They just happened to have put the two inukshuk books – in hardcover – on sale as a packaged set for $9.99! Love.
And they had about a billion other things in there I wanted to take home with me too… an Edward Gorey’s ‘Gashlycrumb Tinies’ calendar, a $10 inflatable globe, a $100 shadowboxed set of freeze-dried black desert scorpions with Latin labelling, chemistry glassware, anatomy posters, scaled human skeletons, dinosaur models, an $8 set of Mucha-print playing cards… the list of goodies is endless.
Heaven save me when I have children and there is a “legitimate” excuse for me to go shopping for things like an ‘Excavate Your Own Archaeology Dig Site’ playset.
I had no idea of the existence of this store – I find that whole mall place scary – but I will have to check it out!
