My secret santa at the Snail is this guy named Dave.
We all pulled names out of a hat (well, a CCG box, whatever) and my freakish luck caused me to pull out the name of a guy I have never met: he works at the warehouse, I work in the store. I’m shopping blind, here.
The only bone I’ve been thrown is that he likes graffiti. So I’m going with a “Have Yo’self a Sketchy Little Christmas” theme gift. A can of festive gold spraypaint for tagging, a gold marker for throw-ups, Elemental Mag for visual stimulation and writer interviews, and then a 40 of Olde English, a grey hoodie with a concealing pouch and some filter masks to round it out.
I bought all that stuff on my lunchhour. AND a prezzie for my cousin. AND lunch at Juice for Life. AND got my LOTR ticket for tonight. AND popped into Aboveground Art Supplies, just to browse. Also saw Willow at the Grange, catching a bite with the other OCAD folks, but was out of time so I didn’t stop to say hi. 🙁
Dude! That’s a FABULOUS gift! I love it!
Thanks for the support! I’m so nervous when I’m shopping for total strangers, but on the other hand, it gives you a lot of free play for creativity. I’m still trying to think of a good way to wrap it – presentation is everything. Suggestions *very* welcome.
Oh, and I can’t write it here, because she reads this, but you would be *very* proud of what I bought my cousin at lunch. 🙂
what’s the gift-givin’ limit on this present? i mean, sounds like you’ve had to mortgage the car or something on this one… Puts my friends’ KK to shame.
and LOTR is out tonight? holy shit i’m outta the loop…
Dude! I rock so hard, I managed to do all that shopping for about $25.
Spray paint = $5, tag marker = $2, magazine = $6, filter mask = $2, malt liquor = $3, sketchy hoodie (2nd hand) = $8.
Bow before the ShopMaster.
And don’t be fooled by my premature viewing. Return of the King opens in theatres December 17th. I get to go early because I work at the Silver Snail. I love my part-time job, even though it is destroying my social life, it gives so much in return.
ugh. olde english. they have that here too…i’ve heard bad stories…
good times, yo.
Mhmm..she does read this (even though Romantic Poetry is the designated boring reading of the day) and she is indeed intrigued….go on, tell them…I won’t look, honest! 😉
ps. gotcha on the pix thing, I’m on it.
I was starting to think your KK gift was outrageous to the max! I shouldn’t have underestimated your super shopping skillz! Good find! Good deal! Great gift!
did you actually get to see LOTR? i was supposed to have an “in” to return of the king tonight (at the varsity) but we got shafted with Big Fish instead, so that Alliance-Atlantis employees could see LOTR in their private theatre. los bastardos!
